The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Materials (AICCM) Objects and Electron Special Interest Groups will host this symposium on the theme The Shock of the New: Modern Materials, Media and Methods, encompassing the following areas of research and enquiry:
 
Media art
Contemporary art
Digital collections
Modern materials
New or innovative use of conservation materials or practice
 
The program is expected to consist of two days of presentations and one day of workshops.
 
The organising committee now welcomes abstracts of 250 words for papers, lightning talks and posters.  Paper presentations should be tailored to 20 minutes in length.  Presenters are encouraged to submit papers for publication in the AICCM Bulletin.  Lightning talks should be tailored to approximately 5 minutes in length with an abstract for publishing in the symposium program.  Posters will be hard copy format with abstracts published in the symposium program.
