In this newsletter, we are excited to announce the Call for Participation for the INCCA Café: Student & Early Career Research pt.2! Due to the high number of applications in the first edition (Join the INCCA Café: Student & Early Career Research on 14th March 1pm CET), we decided to organise a Part 2 to facilitate connections in our community.
Note that for this edition: presentations should focus on technical research and analysis, treatment examples, ageing studies and case studies focusing on specific conservation materials, such as adhesives or retouching materials. Presentations can be in any format. Send your participation request to info@incca.org by 24th March 2024, including your presentation topic/abstract, a short bio (up to 200 words) and 1-2 project images with credits. INCCA Café: Student & Early Career Research pt.2 will be hosted online via Zoom on 16th May 2024 6pm CEST and will not be recorded.
In the meantime, we would also like to share this international symposium with you - How do you do it? Transmitting Embodied Knowledge across Generations in Contemporary Art Conservation. Bringing together experts from an array of disciplines, the symposium aims to refine the understanding of concepts such as implicit, tacit, procedural, and embodied knowledge. Participants including linguists, sociologists, conservators, artists, artist’s assistants, art historians, curators and representatives of artists’ estates will delve into the functioning of embodied knowledge and share experiences and best practices for intergenerational and interdisciplinary transmission. Participation is free of charge. Limited seats. Binding registration via email by 31 May 2024 to Sandy Bruer <sandy.bruer@hawk.de>.
