Curriculum The Master in Contemporary Art Conservation and Restoration is a project undertaken jointly by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Museo Reina Sofía with the aim of creating a new educational space in Spain. The Master (Magíster Universitario en Conservación y Restauración) analyses the strategies and criteria that come into play in the conservation and restoration of contemporary art, using a variety of methodologies including the examination of case studies, in which not only restorers participate but also all the other parties involved: artists, conservators, engineers, exhibition set-up teams and experts in different media.
The Master program, in which 60 ECTS credits (600 class hours) must be completed, is divided into two quarters. The first quarter provides students with basic knowledge and skills needed to take on any Contemporary Art conservation-restoration project. The second quarter focuses on direct action in relation to case studies, with much more practical content.
First quarter (March-June): 124 theoretical class hours and 96 practical class hours

Intended for: Holders of undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts, with specialisation in conservation-restoration, or students who have completed other types of programs in conservation-restoration.
