INCCA Database for Artists' Archives - IDAA Print E-mail

This unique tool is created for and by INCCA members, allowing access to each others unpublished information. The database contains metadata records (like library cards) that describe all types and formats of documents. Examples are: artist interviews (transcripts, video, DVD etc), technical drawings, installations instructions. Documents may even be notes taken during 'ad hoc'  discussions with artists, such as telephone conversations or during exhibition installations. Often important information can be obtained from the artist at such impromptu moments.

Each record includes keywords and an abstract as well as information on how to obtain the document. It is now possible to attach documents of any digital format to database records making the INCCA database a rich repository of knowledge. Different members may create records concerning the same artist resulting in a virtual artist archive.

Around 200 artists are currently represented in the database including such names as: Marina Abramovic, Miroslaw Balka, Joseph Beuys, Tony Cragg, Tracey Emin, Gilbert & George, Thomas Hirschhorn, Donald Judd, Ilya Kabakov, Bruce Nauman, Shirin Neshat and Panamarenko. To view the full list of artists in INCCA see Artists in IDAA.
